Rifle and Pistol Ranges are open from 8:00 am until dusk daily. You must be a member to use ranges. Ranges are closed on special occasions. Please check calendar for dates.
The BCC is a dedicated group of individuals promoting the protection and propagation of fish and game in a safe, sportsman-like and law-abiding manner. We encourage young and old alike to get involved with shooting and outdoor sports through our many safety programs and training in the proper care and use of hunting and fishing equipment. Our hope is to maintain for the use of the community our ranges and reserves for the purpose of developing characteristics of good fellowship, self discipline and self-reliance essential to good sportsmanship, true patriotism and citizenship.
What has happened to the saying, April showers bring May flowers as
I sit here watching the snow and ice mound up? We are not off to a great start of the spring warm up for the summer trap season. To all those that enjoyed the nice weather for the Polish shoot this last week, thank you. We had a great bunch of shooters. I believe we had 139 shooters for the event and some very good scores!
Those of you that have been at the club lately have seen that the Steve/Dave/Gene & Jerry Company have been very busy with the remake of the bar top. Great job guys! I have been told they are not done yet. Glad these guys believe in the saying idle hands make idle time. Make sure you thank them for their hard work.
Speaking of hard work, the coaching crew along with Amy Thoma and Kevin Rosenau are off to a bang with the CWYTL league. It looks really cool seeing all the kids out breaking birds in what I would say not the best weather conditions. A special thanks to all the coaches that take time out of their weekend to help these kids and the future of this club.
Not only have Saturdays been busy at the club, but the KMTC High School program is in full swing with the Berlin/Ripon squad setting the pace in the Northern Division. These kids really know how to grind birds. Congrats to them all and the coaches that dedicate their time as well, to a great program. Along with the high school program, the Target Terminators will begin warming up to take aim on the SCTP events and the AIM/ATA program. If you have a child interested in becoming a member of this group, which are ambassadors of the BCC youth program, contact Head Coach Steve Beres.
With the Memorial shoot on the horizon, the summer league is not far away. To help with sharpening your skills, we are now open on Tuesday nights for open shooting. Not too far off, Gary Ross will be conjuring up target combinations to have you talking to yourself with our 5 stand. We will be selling special shooting cards for the 5 stand this year. It was the board’s decision to increase the cost of 5 stand to $5.00 a round which is still a great value. Hope you all take advantage of this great program we have set up. Also coming up in late May will be the start of our registered targets for you ATA shooters. The first event will be a Marathon Shoot on the 27th which will also be an online zone shoot for the youth. Get your targets early so you don’t have to rush with the State Shoot in July.
The summer trap league being pushed back a bit will allow for a few more open practice nights on Thursdays as well. We also will have the club enrolled in the Sunday travelling league. A sign-up sheet will be on the board. It is a way to meet other members from other clubs and enjoy the fellowship of our sport. This is a team event which you would be shooting for BCC at this event. They are great fun. If interested, see Bob Pribnow or myself, Gary Witzke for more info.
In closing, with the election of board members complete, I would like to welcome Don Konen to the board. He will be a great asset going forward. Also, congrats to Dave Polzin, Jerry Reetz, and Joe Gozinski for another dedicated term. Finally, I want to thank the board and you, the members, for the opportunity to be your President. This is truly a great club and a jewel to the community which can only get better. For those that have dedicated their time I thank you, for the others don’t be afraid to pitch in in whatever time you may have as this will only make our club better. We have a lot of very exciting things on the horizon for this club and will need all your help. Remember this is not mine nor the board’s club, it is all of ours to make it as great as we see fit!
See you on the line soon!
Gary Witzke- President
The Board of Director's Meeting Minutes and BCC Foundation Minutes are now being posted on the website under the About tab, or click HERE to view meeting minutes for this year.
We have listed, with explanations, many of our activities in which you may volunteer. If all +1,600 of you pitch in and volunteer to help with just one thing that is listed, the board members could spend less time themselves making your club successful. Of course, volunteer hours count toward pheasants or shooting cards ... not to mention the feeling of satisfaction for a job well done! Click HERE for more information (last two pages of document).
If you shop with Amazon, you can support the BCCF by clicking on the link below, setting up your account, and going to smile.Amazon.com every time you begin your Amazon shopping "trip". Same products. Same experience. But Amazon will give us 0.5% of your purchase total when you shop AmazonSmile. It doesn't get any easier than that! We thank you for your support.
