BERLIN CONSERVATION CLUB
Sporting Clays and 5-Stand Rules
REVISED 4/2025

Observe all safe gun-handling rules:
    - actions open until shooting (or gun broken open)
    - muzzle pointed in a safe direction
    - finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
  1. If gun problems occur, point the muzzle down range.
  2. Shouldering and pointing firearms is only allowed at the shooting station with the muzzle pointed down range.
  3. Properly worn eye and ear protection is mandatory for all 17 and under while shooting, coaching, or scoring while in or close to shooting area.  For all others it is highly recommended.
  4. Discharge of firearms is only allowed at the designated shooting stations.
  5. Only one shooter in/at the shooting station at a time.
  6. No loading of shells into firearms unless in the shooting station and muzzle pointed down range.
  7. All shooters must sign a liability waiver.
  8. No more than two shells in the gun at a time.
  9. Use of firearms on the sporting clays range while intoxicated is prohibited.
  10. No alcohol or drugs on the course by shooters or spectators.
  11. No pets on the shooting course.
  12. All shooters must review the General Range Rules located/posted in the clubhouse and on website www.berlincc.org
  13. All shooters must be familiar with this sheet of printed rules.
  14. State of Wisconsin laws are followed regarding the age of shooters, although physical ability and gun control will beconsidered.
  15. If the shooter cannot clear a jammed, broken, or inoperable firearm, the Range Officer or event leader will take control of it, with the owner, and remove it to a safe location.
  16. Do not walk in front of target machines.
  17. Do not walk in front of the shooting station cages. Enter and exit from the designated area only.
  18. Shot size of 7 1/2 or smaller, 12 gauge or smaller guns, and 2 3/4" shells, or shorter, only.
  19. Must be familiar with the word "CLEAR" and its use. "CLEAR" means that all shooters have completed shooting at targets at that particular shooting station, all guns are unloaded, all guns have the action open or are broken open, and it is safe for the manual machine target- throwing person to exit and join the shooting group.
  20. Shooters may not load firearms at a shooting station when the target controller is missing.  This means the target machine is being serviced. The target loader will return and inform you when it is safe to begin shooting.
  21. Empty shell cases that hit the ground become the property of the Berlin Conservation Club: UNLESS, there is no one waiting to shoot and all guns are in the gun racks, then empty shell cases may be safely picked up.
  22. Any safety violations will be handled by the Range Safety Officer, league officials, the Board of Directors, or theSafety Committee. Violators may be suspended from shooting until a meeting with an established committee is held atwhich time action/penalties will be decided.
  23. Shooting may be delayed due to lightening or other hazardous weather conditions.
  24. These rules are subject to change and modification at any time.
