Trapshooting Rules
Observe all safe gun-handling rules:
- actions open until shooting (or gun broken open)
- muzzle pointed in a safe direction
- finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
- actions open until shooting (or gun broken open)

- finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
- If gun problem occurs, point the muzzle down range.
- Shouldering and pointed firearms are only allowed on the shooting line with the muzzle pointed down range.
- Properly worn eye and ear potection are recommended.
- Discharge of firearms are only allowed on the firing line.
- Guns must be on the gun rack when the orange flag is up on the scoring bench and the orange cone is up on top of the trap house. This allows the house to be safely filled. The "trap person" will inform you when it is safe to take firearms to the shooting line.
- No loading of shells into the firearm unless on the shooting line.
- All shooters must sign a liability waiver (one time per year).
- Only one shell in the firearm at a time unless shooting doubles or international trap.
- No food or beverages on the shooting line.
- Alcohol and or drugs before or during shooting are not recommended.
- No alcohol on or north of the fence.
- Only shooters on the shooting line and scorer(s) are allowed north of the fence.
- Empty shells that hit the ground become club property.
- All shooters must review the general shooting safety rules located in the clubhouse.
- State of Wisconsin laws are followed regarding the age of shooters, although physical ability and gun control will be considered.
- Talking, yelling, or other distracting gestures are not permitted on the shooting line.
- If the shooter can not clear a jammed, broken or inoperable firearm, the Range Safety Officer will take possission of it (with the owner) and remove it to a safe location.
- No one is allowed beyond the firing line unless authorized by the Range Safety Officer or a Board of Directors member.
- Any safety violations will be handled by the Range Safety Officer, league officials, the Board of Directors or the Safety Committee. Violators may be suspended from shooting until a meeting with an established committee is held at which time action/penalties will be decided.
- The ATA Rules, as of 2020, Section XIII, paragraphs 1, 2, 3, and 4, will be followed pertaining to shot shell loads and guns.
- These rules are subject to modification and changes at any time.
